All of our instructors here at Kuk Sool Won of Salford are officially licensed and insured by the World Kuk Sool Association (WKSA). Our expert instructor team strive to get the best from all of our students. Our instructors all train regularly, as well as competing in WKSA tournaments and attending WKSA seminars and workshops. Every instructor at Kuk Sool Won of Salford is DBS checked and Safeguarding trained. Scroll down to meet the team.

Head Instructor

Kyo Sa Nim / Second Dahn Black Belt

KSN Sean has been studying the art of Kuk Sool Won for the past 11 years and currently holds the rank of Second Dahn Black Belt. He began his training at Huyton Kuk Sool Won, with Fifth Dahn Black Belt Master Richard Casey, but now trains on a more advanced level at Widnes Martial Arts, the UK’s top Kuk Sool Won school, with Fifth Dahn Black Belt Master Karl Martindale. KSN Sean has also studied under some of the highest ranking Masters in the world, including the Grandmaster’s son Master Alex Suh (Ninth Dahn Black Belt) and head of Kuk Sool Won for the UK Master John Ives (Ninth Dahn Black Belt). KSN Sean has spent the last 10 years teaching students of all ages, which has allowed him to develop his teaching ability to an exceptional level. He is currently testing for his Third Dahn Black Belt.

KSN Sean also regularly attends WKSA Seminars and Instructor Workshops, competes in multiple tournaments per year, and has won Gold Medals in the European, UK, Scottish, and Spanish tournaments. In October 2023, KSN Sean was invited to teach at a seminar in Madrid, teaching advanced kicking mechanics to both colour belt and Black Belt students from various Kuk Sool Won schools in Spain.

Assistant Instructors

JKN GAVIN CARRE

Jyo Kyo Nim / First Dahn Black Belt

JKN Gavin joined Kuk Sool Won of Salford when we first opened back in October 2022, having moved to the area from Glasgow a few months earlier. JKN Gavin currently holds the rank of First Dahn Black Belt, which he achieved in 2018 whilst training at Kuk Sool Won Glasgow. He accomplished this feat despite recovering from severe arthritis, and is now testing towards his Second Dahn Black Belt.

JKN Gavin regularly attends WKSA Seminars and Instructor Workshops, as well as competing in WKSA tournaments.

Outside of Kuk Sool, JKN Gavin trains new staff in the civil service to join his department as professional analysts.

JKN HOLLY WILLIAMS

Jyo Kyo Nim / First Dahn Black Belt

JKN Holly began her training at Huyton Kuk Sool Won, but transferred here to train under the instruction of her brother KSN Sean. JKN Holly currently holds the rank of First Dahn Black Belt, which she achieved in 2023. She also regularly attends WKSA Seminars and Instructor Workshops as well as competing in WKSA tournaments throughout the year.

Outside of Kuk Sool, JKN Holly studies Bioveterinary Science at the University of Liverpool. She also loves to crochet and even sells some of her work online and at markets.
